Happily, clematis can be cured by a dose of Azithromycin.

The shrieking hysteria quotient of the comments section seems to be rising precipitously.

I'll never forgive my wife. We went to the nursery, and she told me to ask the clerk "Where's the chlamydia?".

I'm avoiding the comments.

The anti-ballistic missile system was successfully tested today. Just in case anyone is interested in reality.

First peonies. Now clematis. Ann and Meade are spring flower lovers, and they have
past the point of returning to plastic flowers. I suggest a backyard hothouse.

I think Trump could not give full-throated support for Artcle 5 of the NATO treaty because Turkey is a member of NATO and may shortly claim it is being attacked by the Kurds and demand that the U.S.stop arming them.
Or things really go haywire and there is actual shooting between U.S. and Turkish military.
Iraq is so messy after Obama that this could happen.

I miss the days when The Professor would have done more than just post an excerpt from the 7th Circuit's opinion on transgender bathrooms in public schools - she would have made a handful of statements/comments regarding her thoughts on the constitutionality or even the positive/negative of the opinion.

But, speaking of clematis, our "vine" (if that is the category) was planted over 30 years ago - that little bugger just won't quit.

Clematis? Wasn't he on the Dukes of Hazzard?

Yes. They got a good intercept although obviously this is a stage of progress. I wonder that they really have to have a new three-stage booster. Why don't they just put it on a surplus ICBM that would seem to have to have the necessary velocity. I also wonder how this parallels with the Israeli program. But yeah, forget this, there's a movie out.

Your photo of a clematis is stunning as usual. I still fight the cultural brainwashing that makes me think that pinks and purples are female colors. So, I went to a nice mini-department store in Korea Town on Olympic Blvd. in Los Angeles the other day looking for sheets and a quality skillet. I decided to buy Korean sheets. Yes, they are somewhat different from American sheets. Koreans use a fitted, cushiony bottom sheet and an upper sheet that is more like a light blanket. I needed full sheets, but they only had pink left in stock. I almost walked away, but then fought with myself until I bought the remaining pink sheet and a dark grey upper sheet/blanket. The pair of sheets was over $70, but they oozed quality. I was happy that I broke with boy is blue, and girl is pink straitjacketing. I'm still not going to start wearing lipstick.

I wanted to say something about the successful intercept of a missile today. It's a start. I think that President Reagan was ahead of his time with his Star Wars idea of knocking missiles down in outer space. Gorbachev was not happy with the U.S.'s deep pocket to develop such a system. I don't know why it didn't gain more traction. Today, Putin is worried that the U.S. will develop evermore effective anti-missile systems such as the system in place in Romania, thereby upsetting "strategic balance" in Putin's mind. Putin is hysterical about it from a bizarre speech he gave.

hear! hear!

From the Slate writer who wrote an amicus brief we get drivel like this: "The court’s reasoning built on a long line of authority holding that sex-stereotyping—that is, treating someone differently because of their perceived failure to conform to dominate notions of what it means to be sufficiently male or female—is a form of impermissible sex discrimination."

Really? There is a long line of opinions about discrimination against beta males and masculine females? Or is this just self-serving writing to feed the line to the populace that any contrary ruling would violate the "long line" and thus should be considered illegitimate?

Why am I being shown an Amazon ad for The Communist Manifesto for $3.00?

Don't some people need to read the book? And aren't other people able to provide it?

This seems to undercut the entire premise of the book, rendering an actual purchase unnecessary.

That bores her now. She'd rather talk about their fashion sense.

She certainly has earned time off for good behavior. I suppose she's caught between not posting decisions and getting called out for it by the usual hoi polloi, or posting them without her usual insights which leave the rest of us getting our interpretations from people writing advocacy pieces.

She is free to do as she wishes, but her insights are missed.

I'm surprised I've yet to see an article speculating about Nancy Pelosi's mental status. If I were a reporter, I'd certainly ask her if it's possible she is experiencing symptoms of dementia...over over-stressed...or something else.
